WHO'S WHO IN THE PARISH
RECTOR
The Revd Esther Lay
Mthr Esther was born in the United States and had an international upbringing across East Asia and Australia. She worked as a classical singer for ten years before training at Ripon College Cuddesdon and being ordained to the sacred priesthood. She served her curacy at St Mary Magdalen, Oxford, where she was the first woman in a thousand years to hold the post. She still appears regularly as a concert soloist at home and abroad, and has a passion for teaching plainchant in a worship context. She is also a published and prize-winning poet, and uses much of her free time to write. She is married to Ben, a serving naval officer, and they have two children.
Mthr Esther's working days are Tuesday and Thursday, as her role in the parish is "House for Duty". She can be contacted at wootton.rector@gmail.com, and is always glad to hear from anyone. Please see the section "Christian Life" for details of sacramental and educational activities within the parish.
